Both teams started carefully as they waited for the other side to make the first step. It was Liberec’s players who created a first opportunity, but Folprecht’s attempt was kept away by Padt.
Groningen had his biggest chance a while later with Mahi’s deflected shot that missed the goal only by inches. Slovan had most the possession in final minutes of first half, but neither Folprecht nor Coufal found the way to beat Padt.
Mahi was close to score the opener after the break, but his free kick shot was stopped by woodwork. Then Efremov stood alone in front of Padt after Pavelka’s wonder pass, but Russian striker finished wide.
Luckassen came into the game as a substitute and it paid off for sure. At first, he prepared a great position for Sural, but his teammate’s scissor kick missed the target. With three minutes to go in the regulation, Kevin Luckassen found the ball again in the penalty area and scored to give Liberec a great chance to seize all three points.
However, after the added time was already gone, the official gave a penalty kick to the visitors. Koubek even saved Danny Hoesen’s first shot, but couldn’t reach for a rebound.
