Why did Theo´s decision take time? "After I made it clear to myself if I still wanted to continue playing at a professional level, I consulted with my family to see if they would allow me to continue my playing career. We agreed there as well. After that, it was just a matter of whether there would be an agreement with the management and whether the coach still wanted me and whether I would contribute on the pitch and in the locker room. After considering all these aspects, the conclusion was that I have now signed a contract for next season," explains the thirty-five-year-old father of two sons, who will be able to add more starts to his 127 league games for the club.
Gebre Selassie will not be alone in his mentoring role in the cabinet. "Of course, I´m happy that there will be more experienced players in the squad and we will be able to pass on our experience on and off the pitch to the younger ones," Theo praises the continuation of his teammate from the 2011/12 championship season and our team´s top scorer last season, Michael Rabušic.
"Of course I still wanted to continue, I am after all a bit younger than Theo. During the spring season, the coach told me that he was interested in me, which was important for me. I think the fact that I scored some goals and stayed healthy all season contributed to that. In the end, the management and I agreed on a contract for another year, which I am happy about," says the forward, who has already made it into the top 10 players with the most league starts for Slovan (146 so far).
And how does "Rambo" see his role in the team? "I hope that I will help the boys here both on the pitch and especially in the cabin, where it is necessary to keep some order and help the young players to improve and contribute to the good results of the whole team," wishes the author of 53 goals in the highest Czech competition.
