Commentary
Both teams entered the match very actively, and in the second minute Mosquera received a high pass into the area. However, the visiting defender did not hit the corner. Liberec created another opportunity, as Mosquera tried to pass in front of the goal to Koscelník from the left side, unfortunately unsuccessfully. The game then became more defensive and Hoffenheim got to hold the ball. However, the pace was still not slowing - it was played very hard with a lot of one-on-one battles. The defence worked very well, Hoffenheim practically did not let into the penalty area.
After a couple of early Liberec chances, Hoffenheim put on a lot of pressure, which almost resulted in a goal. Baumgartner came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over Baumgartner and it was a little too high and hit the bar. Subsequently, the visitors eased a bit of pressure and Liberec had some time with the ball. However, while the game still lacked significant chances, it is worth mentioning Mosquer's escape and the subsequent pass to Koscelník. Unfortunately, he did not get a shot on target. Nguyen made a fanstastic save when he pushed Klauss's header over the crossbar. The first half ended 0-0.
At the beginning of the second half, Liberec were awarded a direct free kick from an uncomfortable distance for the opponent. Mosquera took it and shot almost perfectly. Several players in blue ran in front of the goal and Kačaraba was closest to finishing, but unfortunately, he missed just the ball. Shortly afterwards, Mikula received a pass on the left side and ran with it to the edge of the field, where he unsuccessfully tried to pass into the penalty area. The Hoffenheimers also had a promising chance when Skov stretched to the wound from a dangerous distance. But the bullet did not fit him at all and flew far from the right post.
In the 72nd minute, Slovan got opportunity in the form of a direct kick, which was taken by Sadílek. His blow bounced off the wall toward Mar, who moved it to Koscelník, who then quickly centered. Chaluš tried to make a pass, but unfortunately did not reach the ball. After 77 minutes, Christoph Baumgartner got through on the right side and was very close to equalizing for the home side, but didn't get the shot away.
A few minutes before the end of the match, Liberec got some great chances. It all started with the release of Rabušice on the right side of the penalty area and his hard shot at the goal. The goalkeeper promptly set off and Mara got to the touch line. However, the defence managed to block Mar's shot. Mara neatly controlled the ball after a short corner and knocked it on to Hoffenheim who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. Andrej Kramarić took over the execution, waited for Nguyen to jump, and then hit the lower right corner.
