Commentary
The beginning of the first match in the new season was quite defensive. Both teams were focusing on defence and none of them wanted to be first, who will be loosing. The first bigger chance came on Karviná´s side as Moravec tried his luck – Hladký though had no problem with this shot.
After fifteen minutes new player in Slovan´s jersey, Mashike, showed his hard shot, but also Berkovec was in a right place and made a save. Liberec had more from the game, but the defence of Karviná was ready to stop most of the attacks, so all fans did not see any goal in the first period.
Even the second half had the same start as the first one. Slovan tried to score and had bigger pressure than Karviná had. Visiting team could score in the 61st minute as the new player on the field - Aleš Nešický – found Mashike in front of the Slovan´s net. Mashike had an empty net in front of him, but Berkovec stopped the ball with his fingers and save his team from the first goal.
At the end of the match there was not much time left, so coach Hornyak decided to put everything on the offensive and send Jan Pazler into the game. Best scorer of last year's second highest competition scored after two minutes with the header after the Ševčík's centre.
Pazler's goal calmed Liberec down and Karvina, who was relying on the great defence was suddenly nervous – nothing came according to plan. After the final whistle, Liberec gained the first three valuable points in the table.
