Commentary
The start of the match didn’t go well for Slovan. In just the second minute, Hybš tried to ward off Divíšek's pass, but the ball unfortunately ended up in the net behind Nguyen. In the fifth minute came another big chance for Slovácko, with Reinberk just missing a goal. The Liberec players on the pitch continued to panic and made a lot of mistakes. Slovácko, on the other hand, immediately took advantage and scored again in the 9th minute. Ondřej Šašinka finished off a set-up by Havlík with a header and in the 19th minute Navrátil almost scored another goal from a tight angle.
The game stabilized after 20 minutes and Slovan tried to create chances by gradual attacks, but Slovácko defended conscientiously and Liberec had problems, leading to counterattacks by Slovácko. On yet another offensive volley, Petržel put another ball past Nguyen but that goal was called back on the offside. Finally, Balut got the first dangerous chance for Liberec, but his shot from a sharp angle just missed the post.
Just before halftime, Slovan managed to cut into the deficit on a set piece. Musa had a free kick and volleyed to Alexandr Baluta, who slipped the ball into the empty net. In the second half came a few yellow cards, but an important incident occurred in the 59th minute. Musa made a great shot from outside the area behind Trmal, but the video was checked and the head referee cancelled the goal due to a hand ball. That was followed by an edtended period of ttime when neither team was able to generate much. In an effort to increase Liberec’s offence, Pešek and Kuchta were substituted into the game.
Slovan had a great opportunity to score 81 minutes into the match, but Karafiat just couldn't get a shot at the rebound. At the end of the match, Slovacko took advantage of a quick counterattack, Navratil sent the ball into the box and Zajíc found Jan Kalabiška, who rippled the mesh. In the 89th minute, Baluta fired just above the bar.
