Commentary
Slovan started a little more actively and attempted the first shot, as Karafiát booted it from a respectable distance but missed the goal. Eight minutes into the game, the ball was almost unmarked and the shot went just wide. Pešek and Brabec collided badly in the 16th minute, and fortunately both players were able to continue playing after the treatment. Kopic dangerously attacked from the left side and got through Mikula, but the subsequent pass into the area could not find Čermák.
In the 30th minute, Kopic fired for the first time. His attempt from the turn lacked the necessary power and Nguyen easily covered it. He got himself into a promising opportunity after a pass to Mara, but in the final stage he fell and nothing happened. A few moments later, Pázler went in alone Hruška, but the ball got entangled in his legs and his shot toward the middle of the goal was easily saved. There were no more great opportunities for the rest of the first half and the players went to their dressing rooms with the game still scoreless. Slovan started the second half more actively, with Pešek rushing up the right side. He tried a shot, but it wasn’t dangerous. Subsequently, Karafiát headed fearlessly forward, the pass was too far ahead of him. Then, in the 58th minute, Havel set up Luděk Pernica, who lightly headed the ball past Nguyen to put visiting Viktoria into the lead. Slovan tried to answer on their next possession, as Koscelník found substitute Musa in the area, but Hruška was ready for his shot. Mara and Potocný had the next big opportunity, but the shot was blocked by a defending player. In the 71st minute, Plzeň struck again. After a corner, the ball went to Jan Kopic, who didn’t hesitate and arched the ball over Nguyen to make it 2-0. Liberec finally broke through in the 80th minute when Nešický found Petar Musa, who pushed through uncompromisingly and his header found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. Slovan tried at the end to at least earn a point for a draw, but Plzeň didn’t allow anything further.
