Commentary
Our team entered the match energetically, and in the opening minutes we saw an interesting chance, which Gebre Selassie was on the end of. However, the first goal of the match was scored by the opponent. In the 12th minute, Mikuš centred well from the right side. Modou N'Diaye jumped on the fluffy cross and headed the ball into the net from close range. From then on, Slovan was more and more often on the ball, but we did not witness any clear-cut opportunities.
Our best chance of the game so far came in the 30th minute. Rabušic headed a nice centre to Koscelník, who immediately took a shot. His shot was well deflected by goalkeeper Bajza, and Ghali was able to finish. However, the Nigerian midfielder shot over the open goal. That all changed a few minutes later when he won a penalty. Michael Rabušic then took the ball and brilliantly panenka-ed the score to 1-1. By the end of the half we saw a few more interesting chances on both sides, but the score remained unchanged.
In the 55th minute our team created the biggest chance of the second half so far. Rabušic found Koscelník well, who then fired. The goalkeeper deflected the shot straight at Ghali, who hit the bar from a great position. Our pressure increased after that. Gebre Selassie extended Frýdek's cross well to a lone Koscelník. But the Slovakian defender only hit the crossbar from a difficult situation. Nevertheless, he made up for it a moment later. After Mikula's cross, Martin Koscelnik got to the ball in the penalty box and brilliantly fired the Karviná goalkeeper towards the bottom right corner.
Shortly afterwards, Karviná could have equalised after the ball went to a lone Šehić. From inside the penalty area, the Bosnian footballer narrowly missed the left post from an ideal position. The game was often disjointed thereafter, either due to numerous fouls or substitutions. We could see a very nice finish from Višinský, he shot through the defender between his legs. The Karviná goalkeeper, however, was ready for his attempt into the bottom right corner.
At the end of the game both teams had several good scoring opportunities. The first of them was ours, after a quick break. Stoch exchanged the ball with Višinský, with the Slovak midfielder taking the final shot. The shot was blocked by the defence, and Višinský's subsequent shot was cleared by the goalkeeper. The opponents could have equalised shortly afterwards after a header by Marco Túlio, which went just over the crossbar. By far the best chance to increase the score came at the very end to Matoušek. He ran from the middle of the field all alone at the goalkeeper, but he only came up with a very obvious flick, which Bajza didn't fall for. After a few chances burned, the match ended 2:1.
