Could you briefly review the match first... The beginning was very nervous, it has happened to us more often outside. I don’t know what it is, if we can’t concentrate or something. It’s a pity. I think that start decided the game. Because after our mistakes we conceded a goal. After that I think we started to believe in ourselves a little bit more and in the second half too. But we couldn’t take advantage of it. The opponent scored one goal, we didn’t score one. That’s why we lost.
About the mistakes before the goal, you were a little bit involved in that too. What was your intention to do? I got the ball, and I should have taken it, there was plenty of space. I put it behind me, but there was nobody there for us, which was a shame. Then it went very quickly. The ball went to the forward, and he took the shot. Milan Knobloch knocked it away, but it was a quick rebound. You could say that it was the only big chance, and the opponent took advantage of it. That decided the game.
You played with new centre-backs, how much of a complication was that? How did the guys handle it? Well, we’re all professionals. I think they handled it well, Sigma didn’t have many chances. It’s a pity we had two chances and we scored from one of them. That’s football.
Sigma basically had no other chances, you only had a few chances, but not many either. The game was basically chanceless... Yes, there were only some crossed balls, which we defended, and they did too. The opponent simply took their best chance. We did have some shooting attempts and crosses, but unfortunately, they didn’t fall for us. We didn’t get a dangerous finish and Sigma did, which they took advantage of immediately. Thanks to that, they won the game and got three points.
As for the final phase, where do you see the problem? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. In the last game against Slavia, we didn’t get a shot on target, but we still won. Before that, with Pardubice, we scored four goals, it was all right there. This time the crosses were weaker, and it didn’t work out. In short, sometimes we have our day and sometimes we don’t. That’s just football and we need to keep working on it and improving.
Were you surprised that Sigma practically just kicked the ball away at the end of the game and didn’t try to play? I think they had only in their heads that they wanted to keep the status quo. From their goal on, it was mainly us trying to play. So, I wasn’t surprised, whether it was the kicking or the arrival of another defender. They just wanted to keep the score, which they did in the final.
It’s a tangle for sixth place. Hradec won the game, which put us behind. It’s going to be an even fight until the last round, isn’t it? That’s what everyone who looked at the table expected. It shows that this season is very even. Clearly, it’s going to be a tight race to the last round.
How did you play on the Olomouc ground, was it better than yours? Every terrain is specific. Some places are good, some places are better. But overall, it was good.
And the last question, how are you looking forward to the national team? I’m definitely looking forward to it. I’m happy to have received the invitation. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates because we haven’t seen each other for a long time. I’ve been texting with some of them, but face-to-face meetings are still pretty specific, and everyone is looking forward to it.
